Barca turned in a pretty poor performance in the champions league in midweek and although a couple of late bits of Messi magic gave them the points i think they have some problems at this time. It was the wrong appoinment in Pep Guardiola he does not have enough experience and there is a slight lack respect from the players. It is tough enough telling Eto and co what to do and handling all thos egos, without being a rookie boss.

There were times in midweek where it looked on the tv pics as though he was shouting his messages and being blanked.

It has not been a great start for him and hes being slaughered by the press in Barcelona. Yes 6 goals against Gijon but Real bettered that days later to prove how poor they are. Numancia beat Barca on day 1 and Santander took a point in the Camp Nou. Betis managed 2 goals and in the derby game it took 2 late goals to beat Espanyol. Lets be honest these are possibly some of the weakest sides in Spain and Barca played well in only 1 game.

Athletico i like the look of this season, 3 wins in their 1st 5 is a nice start. They have good forwards, Forlan is class and play some very nice football. Having scored 45 goals in total last year it looks as though Athletico have plenty goals in their side once again. I dont agree that they are good enough to challenge for the championship, but i do believe on their day they can compete any of the big boys and will certainly be in the running for the champions league places again.

They have 2 wins in the CL already and look good for the knock out stages.

In a tactical battle who do we go for, the rookie under pressure or the experienced old head of Javier Aguirre, i think we all know the answer to that one. Ofcourse the best tactics in the world may not stop Messi but i believe Madrid have enough quality to score here and although they may not win it, they wont lose.
