San Diego vs. New York Jets

San Diego -8.5.

They are 0-2 so far but we should point out that both were very close run games and really they should won them. Carolina stole it with a last minute play on day 1 and last week the Chargers were robbed by a dreadful call from the official at Denver. They had battled back superbly in that one having been 18 points down.

There is not a great deal wrong and much to worry about from an offensive point of view. They sit 5th in the opening weeks charts from running the ball and are scoring heavily. They have got to sort out that defense though as they are shipping points and for a team who have been crowing about going all the way this season they better do it quick.

Jets are 1-1, i seen them last week and i have to say i was not impressed at all as they lost to New England. Bret Favre is a very experience and quality quarter back but he had a nightmare throwing one intercept pass and passing up at least 2 easy touchdown passes. At one point in the game they were 3 yards from the goal line and couldnt manage to come up with the touchdown despite 3 goes at it. I think this is a sure sign of a lack of ideas and confidence in the attack .To be fair they have a very strong defence and sit 8th on the charts.

This is a massive game for SD, they cannot afford to go 0-3 as really their hopes of a superbowl would be in tatters. That would be some blow to a side many felt were a great bet to go all the way. But i think this is the perfect fixture for them to get that all important 1st victory. Its a long way for New York to travel with the time difference etc and there will be a very partisan crowd backing the Chargers. In Phillip Rivers SD have, in my opinion one the top quarter backs and with New York giving up so much ground i expect them to be heavily punished.
