This looks like one the most open games in this round of the carling cup so il go for at least 3 goals.

Scunthorpe have recovered from a poor start and sit mid table with 3 wins and a draw in the championship. Not bad for a side who have one of the smallest squads and are probably one of the teams most experts would expect to be fighting relegation.

It may have taken a last minute goal but that was a good result, 1-1 at Bristol at the weekend, It means they are unbeaten in 3 now following superb results over Preston(3-1) and that amazing victory 4-0 win at Palace. I must say i was suprised when i seen the goals from that game in London, every one was a fantastic finish.

Port Vale have not made a great start to the new season sitting 14th in league 2 with only a couple of wins so far. I did catch the goals from that 4-0 win over Grimsby a few backs and they were were of a very high standard, so that does suggest they have some quality.

In fact they have been the giant killers so far in this carling cup having knocked out both Sheffied sides, Anyone who follows the championship will know how difficult it is to win at Shef Utd, Vale pulled off a super 2-1 victory with Richards again the hero.

One thing i love about games at Scunthorpe is how quickly the ball is played forward. It is a tight park with the crowd right on top of the action so you seldom see a game that does not have plenty of chances at both ends or that is not played at a good tempo.

Last season it was the one the best grounds in england for over 2. 5 goals bets and there have been a couple of very high scoring games this season already.

I see no reason for Vale to go here and defend. Scunny are playing nice football but they are still quite slow and suspect in the centre back positions. Ofcourse the visitors also travel with confidence pretty high after 2 carling cup wins over championship sides already so have nothing to fear.

Should be a great game with plenty of goals.
