The Yankees kick off their second half of the seaosn aainst the Detroit Tigers, who are division leaders on their own. The Bombers were disappointing before the All Star Break as they got swept by the Angels in a three game series to bring them back behind the Red Sox. However, their home record is still a evry respectable one this year. They are 26-26 at home and teams usually struggle to adjust to the dimensions of the ballpark in their opener at the new Yankees stadium. The Tigers will visit the Yankees ball park for the first time this season, knowing that they got a tough time up their hands if they really want to get anything from it.

AJ Burnett will start in this game instead of CC Sabathia as the Yankees ahve decided to give their ace an extra days rest. Burnett was wild in his last start, giving up four walks but ultimately he still got a quality start. Burnett have been consistent for the Yankees since June, alllowing only five earned runs or more in one of his last ten starts. He will be good enough for the opposition pitcher, Lucas French who will continue to deputise as a starter but I do not believe that he will keep the scores down especially with right field playing so shallow.
