Canas' world rankings have slipped continuously after rising to a record high eighth place in 2005. The Italian have been deteriorating in form since that magical year and with him now currently ranked outside the top 100, he knows that much improvements must be made to challenege the stronegr and better boys out on tour. Todaythough, the Italian veteran ahs a chance to advance into the quarter finals of Bastad if he beats the 463rd ranked Andreas. Even at the age of 28, Andreas ahve failed to make a big impression on the tennis circuit during his career. He has been a mediocre player at best and I do not know what the future lies with him.

Thus far in bastad, all the top seeded players have made ti through to the latter rounds of the tournament and I really do not believe that the awful Andreas will pose too much of a problem to canas. Canas would ahev the determination and appetite to go all out today as age is already catching up on him and who knows how long he will remain on the centre stage. Canas is 2-1 in career head to head meetigns aganst the Swede.
