San Francisco Giants vs San Diego Padres

What more can you say about the San Francisco Giants who have really been the most improved team i the majors this year. They have stomped the entire nation by surprise with their sudden transformation to a contender and judging by the way things are going, the All star break in a couple of days time is all but too soon for them. last time was a historical in baseball as Jonathan Sanchez, their number five pitcher, pitched a no hitter against the Padres. It was already a sign of things to come when Lincecum did flirt with the no no up to the seventh inning on Friday. Tonight though, they will have their number two starting pitcher on the mound.
Matt Cain has been one of the reasons whhy the Giants are leading in the Wild Card race. A 10-2 record is really one of the best records for any pitcher in the majors. Just looking at his 2.42 era this season tells you everything that you need to know about him. Four of his alst five starts have seen him only gave up one earned run in them and with the Padres slumping big time, Cain could be in for his eleventh win tonight. Tiem Stauffer will start for the Padres in this game and more importantly for him, it is his first start for years. Do not expect him to hold a very hot Giants team at the moment.
