Warrington v Hull

The Wolves are one of the form sides in super league and they can cover the start against a Hull side low on confidence.

Last weeks win against Catalans made it 6 from 8 in super league for Tony Smiths side and ofcourse they have that Challenge Cup semi to look forward as well. He has done a fine job as when he took over they looked one of the poorest sides in the league and there seemed no way they would challenge for honours. He has them playing with confidence and has cut out the silly errors which were costing them. Their discipline has also been very good and a low penalty count makes such a difference in rugby league.

Hull are a pretty poor run, only 3 wins in the last 12, and they have came in games against the lesser sides like Salford(2) and Cas . Even then these wins have been poor games to watch, low scoring, with a real lack of quality. In recent weeks Leeds and Saints have hammered the black and whites and the 1st half showing at Wakefield was pathetic. They didnt seem up for that game at all, 23-0 down at ht, some of those players looked like they couldnt be bothered.

Hull dont have the quality to score many trys, they probably average a couple a game. It is not a bad forward line right enough but if richard horne is closed down quickly theres not much else happening in the attacking 3rd .Their kicking game has been a problem all year and Chris Thorman is feeling the heat once again. He is at times a very clever player but hes not the bravest and when he starts poorly he finds it very difficult to find his form. The same thing happened last year while at the Giants.

There has also been a flu virus hit the squad this week so its possible one or two could miss this game or be playing short of fitness.

Brian Carney makes his debut for the Wolves and ive a feeling hes going to have a stormer. Hull have been hopeless at defending out wide recently and we know that despite his age Carney is still a quality player. Warrington are a very good side at working the ball to either wing and if they do it with speed i think theres plenty scores to be had. Ofcourse Morley will be the main man for Warrington again. He is leading his side superbly this season and making countless charges up the middle.
