The Detroit Tigers are on six match winning streak  while the Cubs are slumping with three losses in a row. However, the Chicago Cubs can salvage the situation today as they have Lily on the mound. Lily is 7-3 in 2009 and his era of 3.04 is one of the better few in the majors. He has been able to keep down the scores for the most parts of the season and over the last few games, he averages only 2-3 earned runs per ball game which is very good. The positive thing that the Cubs can get from this game is that they have won many finales of series over the last 2 weeks or so  and will definitely want to avenge their two game loss to the Tigers already.

The Tigers have been on fire recently but today it will be a real test for them as their unreliable pitcher Gallaraga will be representing them. He is win less in his last 12 starts which speaks for itself and over his last two games, it has been pathetic to say the least. The two games alone, he has combined for only six innings, giving up seven earned runs and it will be tough for him to stamp out the hungry Cubs batters today.
