The St Louis Cardinals can make it eight straight series wins against the Marlins today if they do win at Florida. Last night sudden explosion within their offence was some what refreshing after going through a rough patch of form which included five consecutive losses. The score 13-4 yesterday was the most number of runs that the cardinals have scored in a game this season and will be keen to inflict more damage today and chase up the division standings.

Although Todd Wellemeyer have been poor thus far in 2009, I believe his era can be improved. Usually he pitches very consistently in the last two season for the cardinals but I still get the general impression that he does pitches well away from their ball park. The right hander pitcher was 2-0 with a 1.73 era against the Marlins last year and his opponent will be Miller, who won for the first time in four starts against the Giants previously. The concern with him is that he seldom lasts beyond the fifth inning which would be a worrying sign as the Marlin's bullpen was woeful yesterday, giving up seven runs. With their relieve pitchers out of their line up, I think the Cardinals will snatch the finale of their three game series against Marlins.
