Soderling must be having the form of his life now after knowing out two very high seeded opponents, Nadal and Davydenko in his last two rounds. The win against the world number one was even sweeter, especially since Nadal had never ever lose at Roland Garros. Soderling ground strokes and precision were key to his success and on a large foot note, the Swede has been pretty successful since the change of coaches six months of back. The once hot-tempered feisty character looks more calm and certain whenever he plays now.

Gonzalez actually caused a major upset too by sending home third seed Murray in the last round in four sets. The current world number twelve must be very pleased with his performance and can gain much confidence from it but I just feel the big hitting Soderling as all the momentum in his stride now. In fact, en route to the semi finals, his journey has been hindered by many challenging obstacles but yet he managed to surpass all the potential stumbling blocks along his way.
