Although Youzhny have lost twice to Hanescu this year and the fact that the latter has a higher ranking compared to the russian, I still believe that the big hitting Youzhny will be considered the favourite between the pair as he have been in fine form in recent weeks. I think his clay court season can be labelled as a successful one with him venturing into the later stages in each one of them and last week's painful defeat in the semis to Garcia Lopez was just painful.

The Romanian Hanescu has been around on the tour for quite some time now and I think he has already reached his peak in previous years and his preparation leading into roland garros is not too great to start off with. His track record of 8-14 this year looks appalling considering the fact that he is one of the top 50 players on the mens tour.
