Huddersfield v Salford

Salford +15.5

After a bad start to the season and fans calling for McRae to be sacked things have settled down for Salford and they look good value with a big start at Huddersfield.

3 wins is not so bad at this stage of the season for a side who were promoted and although they are on a recent run of 3 defeats, 2 of them were very close against Quins and Hull.

In Myler they have a little genius and although they are not the biggest pack in super league there is certainly a lot of pace in that side and when given the chance they do like to throw it around.

The Giants could join Leeds and Saints on the ladder should they claim the 2 points and that would be amazing given how poor they were for most of last season. Huddersfield are certainly a much tougher side to score against now and have possibly the best goal defence in super league. Their manager is getting a fair bit of stick from opposition fans and managers of the teams they have come up against but i dont see a lot wrong with they way they tackle and neither do the refs.

However the Giants are not the greatest side at home and have struggled to perform in front of their own supporters. Im not sure why it is but there are a few players, like David Hodgson, who seem to find it impossible to recover from a bad start. One mistake and the confidence totally goes.

There is a fair bit of rain expected overnight and this obviously makes scoring points and covering starts a lot tougher.

Huddersfield are missing the man who makes them tick in Brett Hodgson and they have lost a couple of important forwards in Darrell Griffin and Andy Raleigh.

Im not sure if Salford can win this game but they have shown us plenty of times in the last couple of months that they are a different side now the injuries have cleared up and that in Myler they have a little gem who can open any defence. Ray Cashmere has also been outstanding this season and when you have a forward who can offload the ball as often as he does you are sure to put points on the board.
