Over 2. 5 goals.

It maybe doesnt sound like the most exciting fixure of the weekend but im confident we will see a few goals here.

This will be Martin Oneills 1st game as Sunderland manager so i think its fair to say we are going to see a bit of a reaction from the players. He might not be famous for playing the most wonderful football but what he is excellent at doing is building spirit and making players believe in themselves. Oneill has done a good job everywhere he has gone and for that reason its a bit of surprise it took a year for him to get back into football.

I think Bruce was a little unlucky to lose his job as this side has been playing some pretty decent football recently. They just continue to make some dreadful errors at the back and ofcourse as everyone knows they are need of a goalscorer to finish off the good link up play. The defeat last week at Wolves summed up their season. Take the lead with a superbly worked goal by Richardson, win a penalty which should have been 2-0 and game over, miss it fold and gift 2 soft goals and the 3 points.

The week before against Wigan they should have been 3 or 4 up at half time but again didnt get the second and ended up selling 2 at the other end. I have to say i know they are experienced players but Brown and Oshea have been a real let down. Brown in particualar takes some silly gambles and is a bit lazy when it comes to marking at set plays.

Blackburn are also struggling but the odd thing about them is their goal scoring record- it is excellent for a side at the bottom. 21 goals scored, 11 on the road, Rovers have no problems in attack at all.

Hoilett, Rochina, Pedersen, these are terrific footballs and Yakubu just cant stop scoring. 4 last week in the win over the Swans.

Defence is the reason this side are at the bottom, no clean sheets all year, 8 times the Rovers have conceded 2 or more goals. I must admit i dont think much of the centre back Samba he is so slow and gets turned easily, he is not epl level player in my view. They are not great defending crosses either despite the height in their side.

Obviously the crowd will be right up for this one and we should see a good tempo from the kick off and hopefully an early goal. As i said there is a fair bit of quality in either attack but the reason this is a relegation 6 pointer is because both defences have been poor since august.
