Wigan v St Helens

Really like this bet on champions Wigan to take care of bitter rivals Saints on the opening day of the new super league season.

Saints are going through a bit of tough time of it at the moment. No trophies for 2 years and ofcourse they were well beaten in last years Grand Final by Wigan. Aussie coach Royce Simmons is the man trusted to turn things around but he has a tough job on there. Saints have lost a number of very experienced players- Gidley, Hargreaves and also Keiron Cunningham who has joined the coaching set-up.

There has been a few interesting additions though in Macarthy-Scarsbroke, Shenton and Perry.

Wigan were by far the best team in the league last season from the kick off all the way to the grand final. We seen some terrific rugby from the Warrirors and the worrying thing for the rest is that they look even stronger this season. The boss has brought in a couple of fantastic forwards from Australia in Hoffman and Lima.

A number of his exciting youngsters have also signed up on long term deals and that is probably even more pleasing for coach McGuire.

Saints will be hurting and out for revenge having lost the last time the sides met- but i dont see them getting it. Wigan look too strong and very powerful up front. They also have so much class at the back of the rucks and out wide. 4 points sounds very short to me given the difference between the sides at the end of the last season and ofcourse the quality of buys pre-season. Saints will also be missing Pryce and he is such a vital player in attack for them.

Sam Tomkins to control this 1 for Wigan.
