Auxerre are looking to take on Lorient in the opening game of the new French Ligue 1 campaign, looking to build on their success of least season by starting off with a victory.

Auxerre were one of the surprise teams from last season when they finished 3rd in the league and now have Champions League football to look forward to. They won 11 at home last season and kept an excellent defensive record at home, which is what had helped them to do well.

For the new season, there shouldn't be any major surprises against a Lorient team who were mediocre at best on their travels, and with the new season coming and they having to sell a lot of key players without much in return, things don't look promising for them.

In their last six games against Lorient they have just managed 3 points away to Auxerre who thrashed them by a score of 4-1 last season, and will want to continue and build on last years success with another victory this season.
