Serbia take on Ghana in the opening fixture of Group D, where they are the favorites against a Ghanaian side who haven't been up to their best in recent times. 

Serbia have confidence because of the host of defenders that they have led by Nemanja Vidic, who has had a good season this year with Manchester United and will be absolutely key to keep the Ghana forwards at bay led by Sulley Muntari.

Serbia have talent flowing through their squad with the likes of Milos Krasic, Nikola Zigic, Nenad Milijas, Dejan Stankovic, Zoran Tosic and Branoslav Ivanovic to name a few. Their experience in the top leagues around Europe makes Serbia a well prepared team after they have played with and against the top players in the world.

Ghana are at a disadvantage where their leading player Michael Essien is out with an injury, now depend on Kevin-Prince Boateng, Stephen Appiah,  John Mensah and John Pantsil to provide them with the experience needed to get through this tight fixture.

Serbia are the team who like playing free flowing football, and although they lost by a single goal to New Zealand, the goals have been flowing since then, and the Serbians will want to make their debut World Cup as an independent nation a victorious one, that can push them as favorites to qualify in the group ahead of Australia.
