Barcelona lost their first league game when they were defeated by Atletico Madrid 2-1 away. They are only two points ahead of Real Madrid. Barcelona’s midfield and forward lines play a style which allows them to play their possession football that keeps the ball away from the opposition. When a team wins every competition they enter, the tendency is to want to be the same team the next season. Barca will go to this game with the same mentality as always, looking to attack, creating chances and trying to win.  Santander are in 14th position and they want to break out of the bottom part of the table. They were defeated 3-0 by Malaga in their last home game a week ago. Coach Miguel Angel has a team that underachieved last season. The defence was solid, only conceding forty-eight goals (fifth in La Liga) but the two starting central defenders (Iván Marcano and Ezequiel Garay) are gone. Racing have conceded 31 goals this season. They want to establish themselves as a force in La Liga.
