In their ending run last season Espanyol showed that when they score they are a daunting team to play, which is because of their defence led by Jarque and Pareja. Before Daniel Jarque’s tragedy, Espanyol looked like a team that could contend with the likes of Valencia, Sevilla, Atletico,Villarreal and Deportivo for a top six finish. The season 2009/10 hasn’t been good for the hosts. They have scored only 14 goals, conceded 29 and are in 14th place on 23 points after six wins and five draws. The midfield will be the key to success on Sunday evening.  Deportivo started this season very well and have 35 points so far. The visitors will be looking for their eleventh win today. Their problem is that a lack of funds means new arrivals at Depor are usually on loan or free transfers, while some key players left in the summer.
