Carter had a bit of a nightmare in the last round and was very lucky to get past rank outsider McLeod. In the end it was down to a lack of bottle from McLeod rather than anything Carter done.

Carter did not score that well, something he is usually known for being strong at, his safety was poor and to be honest he didnt look as though his mind was totally on the job. He has recently become a father so that would explain why his game was not with him and its possible practice has been the last thing on his mind of late.

Lee was a terrific prospect that seemed to lose his way 8/10 years ago. There was a time when many experts felt he had the game to take on Osullivan or Hendry but his confidence seemed to go after a poor run of form. I think hes getting closer to that game and although it took a frame decider to beat Allen in the last round, that was a very tough tie for Lee which he will be delighted to get through.

I think safety play in this tie will be vital and Lee is far better in this area. Lee does not want to let his opponent get any easy chances at the table because we know Carter is one of the best break builders in the game. If you stop him getting chances he becomes frustrated and sometimes takes on very difficult pots- this results in decent chances for his opponents.

I have to say i wasnt impressed with Carters attitude in the last round, there was a lack of fight despite sneaking through against a pretty average opponent. Lee should be ready for the battle after his thrilling match and ofcourse has had a day off to relax and prepare.
