Tennis season is over, but few players are still on tour, looking to compete in local challenger level events. This week few players from lower ranks are trying to catch some points and money in Salzburg challenger. Although this field of tennis is pretty wild to bet and predict, even bookies sometimes struggle with giving the right value on each match, sometimes I see some odds really worth of try, like in this match between Spaniard and Belgian, I think it's a little bit too high. Quite similar age, Riba is 21 and Mertens is 22, but Pere is the one to have much bigger experience, with over 100 matches already played on clay and as a real Spaniard he have a pretty nice record on this surface. Of course in Salzburg they are playing on totally different indoor hard, but Mertens even if played more matches on faster surfaces, still was facing much weaker opponents. Mostly this kid is playing in Futures events, sometimes he kicks into the final, but as far as I can reach into his record he was losing to players less skilled than Riba. Pere had a good season, I think he is a decent defense mug, punching back most of the balls, which might lead to errors gold mine from the opponent of such level. Besides even if Riba is a clay player not so long time ago he beat in Mexico, on hard Massu and Bloomfield, two guys who knows how to play faster (on this level) and who in my eyes are more experienced and skilled than Belgian. Riba had pretty good season, I can see he was beating more often players similar to Mertens level and I think even if it going to be tight value lies on Riba side. Good Luck!
