Roma vs Real Madrid

The Champions League is back in action this week with some very interesting and let's hope profitable matches. Each season i like to place some bets for the teams that will qualify for the next round. For this round there are a few match-ups that could bring some money. One of them is the one between Roma and Real Madrid.
The odds available, clearly reflect that Real Madrid is favorites to overcome Roma. You can find an odd of about 1.50 for Real to qualify and a 2.50 odd for Roma to qualify.I agree with the bookmakers here.I see Real Madrid as favorites too. They have made a lot of improvements in the last 5 months.
I've watched Roma's and Madrid's last matches so i can make a wise decision for this confruntation.Real Madrid have displayed quality soccer and the relatively new team Real Madrid has formed, is starting to show it's real potential.Robben is also back and he can always bring a plus of speed in Real's favor.Along with Sneijder, Drenthe , Guti and Baptista it seem that Real can penetrate any defense, no matter how organized it is.
Real's last Primera match was away at Betis where they managed to score an early goal in the 6th minute but failed to get even one point due to the 32nd and 36th min. goals from Edu and Gonzalez. The last Primera match played at home was with Valladolid.Although i truly believed Valladolid would manage better, they were crushed with a 7-0 score. But Roma isn't Valladolid. Before the Valladolid match, Real had another away match which Almeria, which they lost 2-0.So, the last matches reflect weak performances in away matches. On the other side they seem to be invincible at home.A perfect 11-0-0 record at home with 33 goals scored and 9 received.Again if we look at their home record for the Group Stage Champions League matches we see a 3-0-0 record with 9 goals scored and 5 received. They are also on the 1st spot in the La Liga
Roma's statistics reflect exactly what the team plays.A organized soccer with no excessive fireworks.Their last Seria A match was a very hard one with Juventus; a match that they lost 1-0.The next Seria A matches are even worst when they have to take on Fiorentina and Inter. If we take in consideration the Chanpions League matches, they have got quite a busy period in front of them.A series of matches which could create some problems.
As far as the team news go, Rubinho is will be out for Real.A huge loss, which will have it's effect, but the important thing that Schuster has created at Real , is that is former a team in the true sense of the word, so when a star player is out, the team will not be affected that much.
Roma is set to have Juan and Panucci in the starting 11, as they have rested during the Juventus match.I am never a fan of couches that rest players. Unless the players are really tired and can't play i see no reason for them to be rested. It just puts more pressure on them. A thing that they do not need.
It is expected that Spaletti will yet again go with a 4 player forward system which features Taddei, Perrotta, Mancini and Totti, who will be like pushed forward. From these 4 i see only Mancini and Totti as having the talent to produce any goals for Roma, but you have to take in consideration that Real will have Cannavaro and S. Ramos at their help.
This first match will be a close one but there are two matches and in the end i see Real as going along in the last 8 teams.
To sum it up here are the main reasons of my bet.
* The first match will be at Rome, so Real has the chance the make up at home in front of their fans, for any mistakes in from the first match.Let's not forget Real have been outstanding this season in all home matches.
* Roma have a busy period and have to face strong team in the weeks to come. They just come from a 1-0 Juventus loss.Real on the other side has to face less demanding teams in Primera, team from the lower side on the tables.
* Real have a much more offensive approach to the match , and have an extra speed level in comparison with Roma.
Basically i'm hoping in a good result in Rome (maybe a 1-1 or 2-2 draw or even better) and in Spain things can go our way for a winning bet.Good Luck.
